Description

The professorship schon above ist to be filled for the winter term 2027/2028 in the Department Civil and Supply Engineering + Food Technology at the Main Campus in Trier.

Tasks

The responsibilities of this professorship include teaching in the bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes in civil engineering, covering the fields of geotechnics, earthworks, road construction, as well as soil engineering. In addition, an individual academic focus within the advertised field is expected through the development and delivery of elective modules. Willingness to take on foundational subjects is required. Applied research in the specified fields, as well as management of the geotechnical engineering laboraty, is desirable.

Courses are to be offered in German and if required also in English.

In addition to a strong commitment to teaching, active participation in the university’s academic self-governance is expected.

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and Trier University of Applied Sciences support a supervision model that requires a high level of faculty presence at the university.

Recruitment
requirements

For this professorship, we are looking for a committed person, who has gained extensive practical experience in geotechnical engineering after completing a university degree in civil engineering (first degree) and who is academically qualified in the advertised field through a doctoral degree. Knowledge in civil infrastucture (focus: road construction) is advantageous.

German language skills (at least level C1) are required. Courses are taught predomanantly in German.

In addition to the general requirements under civil service law, the minimum requirements for appointment are:

1. a successfully completed university degree in the above-mentioned requirements,

2. pedagogical skills , which are usually demonstrated by experience in teaching, training, or relevant further training in university teaching,

3. special ability for academic work, usually demonstrated by a qualified doctorate, and

4. in addition, special achievements in the application or development of scientific findings and methods in at least five years of relevant professional practice, of which at least three years must have been spent outside the university sector.


The appointment is made as a civil servant for life if the relevant legal requirements are met.
