The professorship involves teaching and conducting research within the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in the field of 'Economic and Environmental Law', as well as other degree programmes at the Birkenfeld Environmental Campus. This includes the English - language degree programme 'Sustainable Business and Law'. The teaching staff are also expected to contribute to the profile of the Birkenfeld Environmental Campus in teaching and research.
Sound theoretical knowledge and several years' practical experience in the advertised field of environmental law are required, and this must be reflected in teaching.
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver courses in both German and English, supporting the international focus of the Birkenfeld Environmental Campus. Commitment to continuing professional development and participation in the university's inst itutes and self - administration are required.

In addition to the general requirements under civil service law, the minimum requirements for appointment are:
1. a successfully completed university degree in law ,
2. pedagogical skills , which are usually demonstrated by experience in teaching, training, or relevant further training in university teaching ,
3. special ability for academic work, usually demonstrated by a qualified doctorate in law , preferably related to the advertised field of teaching , and
4. in addition, special achievements in the application or development of scientific findings and methods in at least five years of relevant professional practice, of which at least three years must have been spent outside the university sector.
We also expect a very good command of German and English.
Appointment will be made to permanent civil service status if the relevant employment requirements are met.
