Description

The professorship shown above ist to be filled at the earliest possible date in the Department of Environmental Planning/Environmental Technology at the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld.

Tasks

The teaching area is part of the accredited Bachelor's degree programme in Mechanical Engineering and Technical Planning (6 semesters) and the Master's degree programme in Digital Product Development (4 semesters). The professorship is responsible for teaching CAD including the fundamentals of PLM. In particular, the subject area has interfaces to simulation.

In addition to a strong commitment to teaching, active participation in the university's academic self-governance is expected.

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and Trier University of Applied Sciences support a supervision model that requires a high level of faculty presence at the university.

As a department, we offer a professional, collegial, and supportive environment with ample opportunities to conduct applied research and transfer projects. A research focus in the field of digital product development with an interdisciplinary link to a research focus at the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld, such as the research topic of additive manufacturing, is desirable.

Recruitment
requirements

For this professorship, we are looking for a committed person who has gained extensive

experience in digital product development in the field of CAD after completing a university degree in mechanical engineering or related degree programmes in a responsible position in practice and would now like to pass this on to our students in teaching and research.

The applicant is expected to have scientific expertise and practical experience of digital product development in the field of CAD.

Further practical experience in the areas of:

- Product Lifecycle Management

- Simulation (FEM, MKS, or AR/VR)

Courses are to be offered in German and if required also in English, German language skills at level C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and very good English language skills are required.

In addition to the general labour law requirements, the recruitment requirements include at least

  1. a successfully completed university degree in the fleld of mechanical engineering or a related degree programme with a specialist focus on the above-mentioned requirements,

  2. pedagogical aptitude,

  3. a special aptitude for scientiflc work, which is usually demonstrated by a qualifled doctorate, and

  4. in addition, special achievements in the application or further development of scientific knowledge and methods in at least flve years of relevant professional practice, of which at least three years must have been spent outside the university sector.

The appointment is made as a civil servant for life if the relevant legal requirements are met.
